Last month we had the great pleasure of traveling to the University of Jyvaskyla in central Finland to lead a Productive Encounters workshop with a research group studying elder care facilities led by Sari Pietikäinen, Sanna Lehtonen, and Anne Mäntynen. We were in invited by our good friend Lindsay Bell who is spending the term at Jyvaskyla continuing her studies of the global north and innovative strategies for ethnographic research.

The workshop focused on the exploring the idea of “human-centered”, a term employed by the local municipality to define a relationship between individuals, care-givers and stake-holders in the home.
